Gaza - Press House

On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, Press House-Palestine (BAS) organized a media conference on the topic of "Media.. and Postponement of Elections Conference", within "Journalists Have Power" project activities in partnership with the Government of Canada.

The conference was held in Gaza City, with consideration of high prevention measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID 19, in presence of Mr. Belal Jadallah, Head of Board at Press House, media professionals (women and men), writers, intellectuals, a number of new journalists and media activists.

In his speech, Mr. Jadallah welcomed the audience and pointing out that Press House organizing this conference at small scale which comes in exceptional situations and not like previous years, because of the last Israeli escalation against the Gaza Strip and what left behind of killing, destruction and displacement, also because of the preventive measures to reduce the spread of Coronavirus.

Before starting the first session conference activities, Press House-Palestine presented a video which produced by Press House, reviewing the topic of postponement of Palestinian elections and some citizens' opinions on this issue.

During the first session, which managed by the writer Ms. Amal Abu Assi, lawyer, Dr. Mohamed Zayed, talked about the first research paper "Media Propaganda Determinants in the Light of Elections Law", where Dr. Samia Al Ghussen commented on it.

From his part, journalist Dr. Rami Al Shrafi presented another research paper on the topic of "The importance of media monitoring role if elections conduct", Ms. Rola Alian commented on it.

In the second session, the conference managed by Ms. Ashwaq Rahmi, Ms. Hedaya Shamoun, Media Research, presented a third research paper on the topic of "Role of Palestinian Civil Community Institutions in Electoral Process". Ms. Andaleen Odwan commented on it.

From her part, the fourth research paper presented by Dr. Shadia Al Ghoul, on the topic of: "The Palestinian Elections from Gender Perspective". Ms. Hiba Al Danaf commented on it.

The conference included many participations from participants, where the conference has a group of recommendations as: work on specify dates for dissolution the media propaganda in settlements, and the need to include not allowing the use of homeland symbols in promoting media propaganda, and the Central Elections Committee should be more strict in supervising Observe media propaganda limits.
