Dialogue session on the topic of "The Role of Palestinian Women in Political Participation"

On Tuesday, 22 June 2021, Press House-Palestine organized a dialogue session on the topic of "The Role of Palestinian Women in Political Participation" as part of “Journalists Have Power" project activities in partnership with the Government of Canada.

With high prevention measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID 19, the dialogue session was held in the Gaza City and attended by Ms. Mariam Abu Daqqa, lawyers, journalists (women and men) and media students and graduates in the Gaza Strip.

Ms. AbuDaqqa reviewed the most significant challenges that the Palestinian women Faces under Israeli Occupation, as also, she addressed Palestinian women struggling over the past years and how women in Palestine are lacking political participation despite the power and qualified capacities of them, she emphasized her participation to the Palestinian Revolution since young age. She referred to many Palestinian women who positively participated in the Palestinian revolution, Abu Daqqa pointed out the misunderstanding of women political participation concept to a large number of Palestinians, as they believe it is only about voting. Moreover, she mentioned the weak representation of women at syndicates, and she stressed the importance to enhance women participation in education field as they are the mothers for future generation.

The session included a number of participations from participants, which focused on the real role for Palestinian youth to strengthen women political participation.
