In March 2021, Press House – Palestine (BAS) launched a media campaign on the topic of “The Importance of Media Monitoring on the Palestinian Elections” to raise awareness among the Community and the Media institutions on the importance of Media Monitoring as part of “Journalists Have Power” project activities funded by the Government of Canada.
The Project Coordinator, Ms. Hanadi Olwan said, “this media campaign aims to raise the awareness level among the Palestinian community on the importance of media monitoring on the electoral process in Palestine and the importance of participation in the elections.”
The media campaign included publishing billboards in the Palestinian Governorates in the Gaza strip with slogan “Yes to Free and Fair Elections” referring to a text of the Palestinian Basic Law stating that “Palestinians have the right to participate in the political life individually or in groups. In particular, they have the right of voting and being nominated in the elections to choose their representatives elected by universal suffrage according to the law to occupy public positions based on equal opportunity.
