Gaza – Press House
On Monday, February 1, 2021, Press House – Palestine (BAS) concluded the on-job-training of 2020 within “Strengthening Free & Independent Media in Palestine” project activities funded by the Norwegian and the Swiss Governments.
With consideration of high preventive measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID19, the graduation event was held at Press House office in presence of Mr. Belal Jadallah, General Director of Press House, Mr. Hekmat Yousif, Editor-in-Chief of Sawa News Agency, the coordinator of Strengthening Free and Independent Media in Palestine project, and beneficiaries of the on-job-training program.
Mr. Belal Jadallah said “this training opportunity is unique in terms of its content and goals,” adding Press House will keep seeking for enhancing free opinion and expression in Palestine. He emphasized on the importance of such training opportunities in the field of journalistic editing which qualify the beneficiaries for the media fields in Palestine after their skills are developed on the basics of professionalism and objectivity.
From her part, the project coordinator said “the objectives of the on-job-training focused on increase the number of independent journalists (women and men) in Palestine, which will contribute to increase the accessibility of different community members to independent, professional and correct information.
A number of 10 journalist beneficiaries (women and men) benefited from 2020 the on-job-training program in different stages from 3 to10 months. Through these stages, they wrote and published different media materials on Sawa news agency website.
The beneficiaries from on-job-training program gave their feedbacks on their experience at Sawa news agency stressing that this opportunity has enhanced their journalistic capabilities.
