Press House in partnership with REFORM organizes a dialogue meeting on "The Community Initiatives.. Challenges and Change"

On Tuesday, 7th of Nov 2019, The Press House - Palestine in partnership with REFORM, organized a dialogue meeting entitled,” The Community Initiatives.. Challenges and Change”, as part of the project “Fostering Social Inclusion and Gender Equality within Palestinian Society tackling gender stereotypes”, funded by the Italian GVC Foundation.

The dialogue meeting highlighted the importance of community initiatives and their impact on contributing to the changing and development in different societies with its intellectual and cultural challenges, where young people are the goal of this change and development, also it stressed that community initiatives are the practical framework to activate and spread the culture of volunteerism, In which young people prove their loyalty and belonging to their communities, and make a real change in contemporary issues of society, especially the issues of discrimination against women and other marginalized groups in order to achieve the required community development.

The meeting also focused on the mechanisms and executive strategies of community initiatives to improve the skills of the participants in the analysis of discrimination against women in the Gaza Strip, and the implementation of the necessary community intervention projects, in addition to identifying the media messages for any initiative, focusing on technical and financial management skills to ensure the implementation of any initiative.

The role of the civil society institutions and NGOs was reviewed in supporting and coordinating the efforts exerted in implementing youth initiatives, within a strategic and societal development vision.

It’s worth noting that this project aims at challenging discriminatory and exclusionary practices and behaviors that contribute to promoting gender inequality by providing safe spaces for marginalized groups, especially youth and women, to discuss gender-based societal issues, and to improve the exchange of experience among the various components of Palestinian society to promote the social inclusion.
