Press House Concludes the on-job-training of 2021

On Tuesday February 22, 2022, Press House – Palestine (BAS) concluded the on-job-training of 2021 within “Strengthening Free & Independent Media in Palestine” project activities funded by the Norwegian and the Swiss Governments.

With consideration of high preventive measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID19, the graduation event was held at Press House office in presence of Hekmat Yousef, editing manager of Sawa News Agency, Hanadi Elewan"Project Coordinator", Mohammad Wahba, The On-Job Training Supervisor, and beneficiaries of the on-job-training program.

Mr. Yousef said “this training opportunity is unique in terms of it’s content and goals,” adding Press House will keep seeking for enhancing freedom of expression in Palestine, pointing out that the on-job training program goals aims to increase the number of independent journalists in Palestine, which helps to improve community members access to independent, professional, and accurate information.

Yousef emphasized on the importance of such training opportunities in the field of journalistic editing which qualify the beneficiaries for the media fields in Palestine after their skills are developed on the basics of professionalism and accountability.

A number of 20 journalist beneficiaries (women and men) benefited from the on-job-training program during 2021 in different stages from 3 months, 6 months and 10 months. Throughout these stages, they wrote and published different media materials at Sawa news agency website.

The beneficiaries from on-job-training program gave their feedbacks on their experience at Sawa news agency stressing that this opportunity has enhanced their journalistic capabilities.
