On Thursday, July 15, 2021, in partnership with media college at Al Aqsa University Press House – Palestine held two legal awareness workshops on the topic of “Legal basics of Investigative Journalism” and “Labor Rights for Workers of Media Sector”, as part of “Strengthening Free & Independent Media in Palestine” project activities, funded by the Norwegian and the Swiss Governments..
The two workshops were held at Al Aqsa University in Gaza City, with high prevention measures to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19, with the participation of Dr. Ahmed Al Mghari, Project Coordinator and media colleges students at Al Aqsa University.
From his part, lawyer Monther Al Farani reviewed legal basics for investigative journalism, in accordance with Palestinian law and international standards for media freedom, enabling them to apply legal basics for investigative journalism in media materials, ensuring that journalists are not exposed to any legal accountability.
From his part, Lawyer Yousef Karso’, aware media college students at Al Aqsa University about their legal and professional rights as workers at local or international media.
Also, He referred to the most important provisions of Palestinian labor law and rights related to journalists, in addition to youth volunteers in the field of media.
The two awareness workshops included many participations and recommendations, which focused on need to hold more legal awareness workshops in order to raise awareness between journalists (women and men), not expose them to legal accountability.
