Press House Implements Psychosocial Support Sessions for Female Journalists in Gaza

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, Press House – Palestine implemented psychosocial support sessions for 15 female journalists from the Gaza Strip as part of the “Rehabilitation of Press House” project, funded by the European Endowment for Democracy (EED).

The four-day sessions, led by psychological and social specialist Iyad Al-Deerawi, aimed to provide a safe, respectful, and confidential space for participants to share experiences and emotions, receive immediate psychosocial first aid, and strengthen their psychological resilience to cope with the emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and physical effects of trauma.

During the sessions, Al-Deerawi introduced practical concepts, tools, and supportive recreational activities to help participants alleviate the impact of traumatic events and regain a sense of stability. This included guided deep breathing exercises to enhance focus and reduce anxiety, as well as visualization and meditation activities to relieve stress.

The sessions also focused on different forms and types of gender-based violence and the guiding principles of survivor-centered care.

Several participants expressed their hope for more such initiatives, especially given the painful and shocking psychological and social impacts they continue to experience in Gaza.
