The Legal Protection Unit for Journalists at Press House - Palestine (BAS) has published a factsheet on the violations against media freedoms in Palestine in May, 2022.

The factsheet highlighted violations committed against media freedoms and Palestinian journalists (women and men) by Israeli Occupation and internal entities, in addition to digital rights violations. In May, 2022, the number of committed violations against media freedoms in Palestine has reached (177), as (148) violations were committed by Israeli Occupation representing (84%) of the total number of violations and (2) internal violations representing (1%) out of total violations, in addition to digital rights violations representing (15%).

The factsheet showed that the distribution of violations by geographical region indicates that all violations of the occupation occurred in the West Bank, while (50%) of the internal violations occurred in the Gaza Strip (1), and (50%) of the internal violations occurred in the West Bank (1).

In terms of digital rights violations, the unit documented (27) violations of the digital rights of journalists, including (17) journalists from the Gaza Strip and (10) journalists from the West Bank.
