On Monday, December 14, 2020, Press House – Palestine(BAS) held a consultative meeting on the topic of "Mechanisms to promoting cultural media in media colleges at Gaza Strip", as part of activities of "Intellectual journalists" project funded by the Palestinian Ministry of Culture.

Heads and professors of media departments in the universities of Gaza Strip, in addition to a number of writers and intellectuals participated in the meeting, with consideration of high preventive measures to prevent the outbreak of Coronavirus‎.

Mr. Belal Jadallah, director of the board at Press House, welcomed the attendees, reviewing the project's activities in promoting cultural journalism and its important role in building a generation that preserves the cultural scene.

Mr. Sami Akela, lecturer at the University College of Applied Sciences, was the facilitator of the meeting where he spoke at three important points, namely the reality of cultural media education, practical mechanisms to promote cultural media in Palestinian universities, and the non-coverage of journalists for cultural meetings, pointing out that new creative ideas should be introduced into the education system in Palestinian universities.

The participants came up with a series of recommendations, including the formation of a steering body composed of the Ministry of Culture, media academics and intellectuals who oversee the development of cultural media in universities and the media, and the need to train academic staff working in media faculties and departments in the field of cultural media education, as well as to activate cultural activities for media students and focus on educating them and integrating them into the cultural scene.

From her part, Ms. Yasmin Al-Jarwsha, Project coordinator, said that the project targeted 20 participants from journalists, and graduates of faculties of journalism and ‎media in Gaza, for 25-hour training course on the topic of "Cultural Journalism Skills", as well as another training course on the topic of "Skills to use social media platforms".
