Press House and Al-Najah Media Center hold a workshop on the topic of “Women's Rights & Gender Equality”

On Monday, September 7, 2020, Press House – Palestine(BAS), in collaboration with  Media Center of Al-Najah National University in Nablus, held a workshop on the topic of "Women's Rights and Gender Equality", as part of Strengthening Free & Independent Media in Palestine ‎Project activities.

The workshop was held in the presence of a group of journalists (from both sex) from Nablus, while a group of students and graduates of the faculties of media in the Gaza Strip participated via "Zoom" application.

Dr. Faten Abu Za’aroor, lecturer at Al-Najah National University, spoke about women's rights in the family protection law, which is not only for women, but for the entire family.

Dr. Za’aroor added "The Family Protection law covers women, men, children and everyone who is a member of the family".

Dr. Za’aroor stressed that women's issues are societal issues, and that every conscious person must be to claim women's rights.

Dr. Za’aroor continued "We are trying to change negative stereotypying towards women, because Palestinian society is educated and open through social networking sites and exposed to different cultures."

Dr. Za’aroor confirmed we are in need to generalize individual models that exist in society, and it is very important to start from the young generation to teach them how to change the mechanisms of thinking, building opinion, teamwork and wise leadership, which must be established since childhood.

The workshop concluded many participation from participants, regarding what women need edifying change and the mechanisms for obtaining their rights through legal methods.
