From Press House,  Cement entered Gaza is not Enough, Mladenov  Delivers Two Warnings

13/10/2016---Nikolay Mladenov ,the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, warned the people who think it's possible to punish people of Gaza through imposing the siege or setting restrictions on the exports and reconstruction materials entered to Gaza.

During a press conference held at Press House headquarter in Gaza on Thursday, Mladenov said;" the temperature of the Gaza Strip is rising. Therefore, the Palestinian armed group leaders must take decisions about this, since it's important to maintain calmness for Palestinians and Israelis both.

The coordinator for Middle East Peace Process delivered a warning to those who dig tunnels in Gaza, and those who benefit and invest in the black markets for causing confrontation. As he said

Mladenov confirmed that such actions like these endanger the lives of Palestinian and Israeli people, and they are irresponsible and dangerous actions.

He pointed out that the mission of the united nation is to continue working on the humanitarian and relief operations, as well as the political task of uniting the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

He asserted that a meeting for the security council will be held next week, during which the Gaza Strip issue will be discussed. He also hoped that their teams could organize a Palestinian-Israeli meeting to discuss Gaza reconstruction and the mechanisms which will be adopted for these decisions.

About reconstruction, Mladenov confirmed that cement is so important, not only in term of reconstruction but for reviving the Palestinian economy as well.

He said; " we can see people who were dropped from their jobs as a result of the lack of careers, and a slow process of economy, as well as competing black markets. The temperature of Gaza is rising" as he said

He said that he is worried about reconstruction, after the initial success of reconstruction in Gaza and the cooperation between Israel and Palestine.

He also said;" I support and stand by those who are suffering from the belated construction for their houses, noting that the cement entered to Gaza is not enough according to the needs of civilians who are in the process of rebuilding their houses.

He explained that although there are many projects under the system developed between Israel and Palestine, there's a space that extents to a whole year for implementing the approved projects.

Mladenov stressed that the United Nations is still supporting lifting the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, taking into consideration the security concerns of Israel.

He clarified that seeking to attain the possibility of moving people from and to the Gaza Strip is a must, along with the possibility of moving the goods and exports from and to  the Gaza Strip.

He continued; " we hope that we can restore some mechanisms by which we can restore the amounts of reconstruction materials and equipments  that are required to enter Gaza, through working with Palestine and Israel.

He also indicated that discussions must be set between Palestine and Israel about the last serious issues related water and electricity.

Mladenouv praised Israel decision of providing the sewage project of North Gaza an electricity line, and allowing 10 million cups of drinking water to enter Gaza as well as increasing the voltage of electricity to 100 megawatt for the Strip.

Finally, he confirmed that the United Nations will follow up the implementation of these critical decisions in order to ensure applying them.
