Press House in partnership with REFORM organize a film discussion

On Wednesday, 31st of July 2019, the Press House - Palestine, in partnership with REFORM, organized a film discussion for a documentary entitled "The Black Mamba”, written and directed by Amal Falati, as part of the project “Fostering Social Inclusion and Gender Equality within Palestinian Society tackling gender stereotypes”, funded by the Italian GVC Foundation.

This documentary is part of a series of documentaries to be presented during the project period, reflecting the challenges and difficulties faced by women in various labor fields.

The film "Black Mamba" highlights the issue of a girl practicing boxing despite the refusal of her mother and fiancé, which made her at the crossroads between completing her life with her fiancé to become a wife and mother or pursue her dream to participate at the Olympic Games.

The film also focuses on the issue of the physical violence against women and girls and its psychological consequences, where they lose their self-confidence, with a constant sense of guilt, and a lack of sense of independency and decision-making.

It’s worth noting that this project aims at challenging discriminatory and exclusionary practices and behaviors that contribute to promoting gender inequality by providing safe spaces for marginalized groups, especially youth and women, to discuss gender-based societal issues, and to improve the exchange of experience among the various components of Palestinian society to promote the social inclusion.
