The Press House holds a dialogue meeting on ” The Publications in two periods of time ”

On Thursday today, 25 April 2019, the Press House organized a dialogue meeting titled “ The Publication in two periods of time the Paper and Electronic publications” , on the marking of World Book and copyright day.

The meeting was attended by numbers of Palestinian writers, authors and male and female journalists.

At the opening of the meeting, the representative of the Press House, Ruba Al Ajrami, said that “The 23rd of April is a symbol in the world of literature, and its remarking expresses the world’s recognition to the writers and authors, and represents a renewal of the contribution’s respect that cannot be eliminated to all those who paved the way for the social and cultural progress of all humanity".

In the context of the debate, on the paper and electronic publications, the Director General of Abullah Al-Hurani Center for studies and Decumentation, the writer Nahid Zaqout said that :” We cannot completely eliminate the paper publications and we cannot abandon the rapid development of electronic publications. Where the dialectical status between them still exists and the sovereignty in the coming period is going towards electronic publications.

Mr. Zaqout pointed out that the reading crisis in Arab society is due to the weak reading culture in education in our communities and the lack of enough motivation to read.

For his part, the writer Rizk Al-Muzanen referred to the copyrights of e-publications in the Internet age, saying: "There is available knowledge within fair copy, and there are many violations that surprised us that books subtitles are not protected".

Al Muzanen referred that the crime of theft, encroachment and plagiarism in electronic publications still exist as it was in the era of paper publications, but in way that are more dangerous than it was, stressing that the rights represent a significant value to its owners morally, materially and intellectually.

The meeting included discussions, dialogues and interventions from the attendees, in order to enrich the meeting and come out with recommendations emphasizing the need to protect publication and promote the culture of reading.
