Launching a Tweeting Campaign on Youth Housing

The General Union of Youth Organizations in Gaza launched on Wednesday a tweeting campaign on social media titled "Youth Housing" at the headquarters of Press House in Gaza City.

The campaign aims to highlight the deteriorating reality of youth in Gaza Strip and help to find housing solutions for them.

Kayed Jarbo', the head of the General Union of Youth Organizations and the High Committee for Youth Rescue and the organizer of the Youth Saving Campaign, said that the General Union would start a number of initiatives for youth housing by offering a proposal for constructing apartments worth no more than 9000 thousand dollars with 90 meter each, and the first payment shall not exceed $ 1000.

He called on the government to provide free land in favor of housing projects at no cost and to work to develop solutions to trespassing on government land by providing apartments for the trespassers in housing projects.

He demanded the government to encourage the private sector to participate in youth housing projects through a tax exemption for these projects, adding that the price of housing units can be reduced through cooperation between the government and the competent authorities to serve the youth.

Kayed said that the agency is working to make the tweeting campaign a success in order to shed light on the problem and provide effective solutions for young people who are willing to get married.

Eng. Ahmed Abu Selmeya, an organizer of the youth housing project, said that this campaign comes in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions experienced by the Palestinian youth due to the deterioration of the economic situation and the lack of job opportunities. The Authority sought to create urgent emergency solutions to alleviate the bitter reality.
