From the Press House... The Palestinian Educational Coalition launches the activities of "Education campaign"

The Palestinian Educational Coalition in Gaza strip launched today Sunday, April 22nd, 2018 the activities of campaign entitled "Accountability for Achieving the Fourth Goal of Sustainable Development objectives and Citizen Participation".

The fourth goal of Sustainable Development objectives states on maintaining an equitable, inclusive and good education in addition to enhance the lifelong learning to everyone.

The event, which was held at the Press House- Palestine, included a group of youth who launched a Twitter campaign on the social media networks by using Hashtag #Fullfill_your_Promises.

The coalition believes that it is essential to keep the education status at the top of national priorities within the stage of liberation and construction.

Where, the coalition called for activating the societal accountability for local funding of education and tax justice in order to enhance the local funding of education and its transparency.

Moreover, the coalition called for credible plans to fund the education plan for 2030 totally, including the work on tax justice and each budget’s part which is being transparently and objectively spent.

It also called for increasing the fund percentage for local education in addition to the necessity of reconsidering and review the income tax and taxation of knowledge and to modify the tax slides and imposing the tax only on the capital profits which guarantees the societal justice.

Furthermore, the coalition stressed on the needs to increase spending to enhance the equality, inclusion and quality of education for marginalized groups of educated people, such as persons with disabilities and rural communities.

While, it urged the donors to play their role to ensure the local achievement of sustainable development goals plan (SDG) and to continue funding the education as well as the commitments for the conventions which were presented at the Global Partnership for Education conference (GPE).
